Adoption Activity Day success

Posted on: 6 March 2017

Adopt South West recently hosted an Adoption Activity Day, with 19 children and 24 adopters joining us. This was a great opportunity for children waiting for a permanent placement and prospective adopters to meet in a relaxing and child friendly environment. The theme of the event was ‘Princesses, Knights and Dragons’ so there were lots of little princesses and knights racing around and enjoying the party.

The children and adopters had the opportunity to engage in a range of child centred activities such as cupcake decorating, shield and wand making, face painting, soft play, sensory play and much more!

‘Elfic’ the jester and juggler made an appearance and entertained everyone with a circus show and the children had the opportunity to join in with interactive story telling.

The afternoon ‘Royal Banquet’ included delicious sandwiches, quiches, fresh fruit and a variety of homemade cakes. During which the children’s popular song from the film Frozen was played much to the children’s delight.

As the day came to an end the children were given a party bag and small gift and the adopters were then given the opportunity to leave the children positive feedback and compliments about how special they are.

The event was a success and 14 out of the 19 children received one or more expressions of interest from adopters and we are hopeful that some of the children will be matched with adoptive families.
