Toolkit for schools

Posted on: 18 January 2018

The Adoptables is a peer network of young adopted people managed by children’s charity Coram and funded by the Queen’s Trust.

The group has created a ‘toolkit’ for schools to help demystify adoption and educate teachers and pupils about how it feels to be a young adoptee. The material is free and includes films and lesson plans for both Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. Teachers can sign up for the Adoptables’ School Toolkit here:

And don’t forget about support and funding

Many adopted children can find school difficult. They will often display complex behaviour due to the trauma they experienced at critical times in their development. Consequently, the new environment may make them feel threatened and unsafe and this disrupts their learning. Find out about school finding and support on First4Adoption.
